Wall Breaker — Clash of Clans
Troops
Updated: 18 September 2026 · By the Goblins Farm team
The Wall Breaker exists to solve one problem: your army is outside and the loot is inside. It runs at the wall protecting the nearest thing it has not reached and detonates. Everything about using it well is about making sure it survives the ten seconds before that happens.
What it does
Wall Breakers target walls, specifically walls that stand between them and something they have not yet reached, and deal enormous damage to that wall while doing very little to anything else. They have almost no hitpoints.
That combination makes them the most timing-sensitive troop in the game. A Wall Breaker deployed at the right second turns a stalled push into a core breach. Deployed at the wrong second it is elixir you set on fire.
How to use it
The rule is simple and constantly ignored: Wall Breakers go in behind a tank, never in front of one.
- Wait for the Giants to engage. While defences are shooting Giants, they are not shooting Wall Breakers.
- Send more than you think. Splash damage kills them in groups, and a wall that is nearly broken is a wall.
- Spread them slightly. Two dropped on the same tile die to one shell.
- Aim at the compartment, not the wall. They path to the wall protecting the nearest unreached building, so the deployment point determines which compartment they open.
How to beat it
Splash damage covering the wall line, and traps that catch fast-moving ground troops. Because Wall Breakers are fragile and predictable, a single well-placed splash defence covering the most attractive breach point ruins most attacks that depend on them. This is also why double walls are a waste, as covered in walls and pathing: one charge opens both.

Frequently asked
Why do my Wall Breakers die before reaching the wall?
Because they were deployed before the defences were distracted. Wall Breakers have almost no hitpoints and must go in after a tank such as Giants has engaged, so that defences are shooting something else when they run.
How many Wall Breakers do I need?
More than the arithmetic suggests, because splash damage kills them in groups and a partly damaged wall still blocks. Send a surplus and spread them slightly so a single shell cannot remove the whole group.
