Town Hall 9: Upgrade Order, Priorities and Common Mistakes
Town Halls
Updated: 18 September 2026 · By the Goblins Farm team
Town Hall 9 is where the game gets serious. The Archer Queen arrives, the content is enormous, and rushing past it is the most common way to ruin an account.
What changes at this level
The Archer Queen is the headline, and she is the most impactful hero in the game because of the Queen walk. You also gain significant defensive upgrades and a very large amount of content, which is why Town Hall 9 takes most players a long time.
Upgrade order
The framework does not change between Town Halls, only the specifics. Keep the laboratory running, keep a hero upgrading where you have one, and keep every builder busy. Within that:
- Archer Queen, immediately and continuously. She matters more than anything else at this level.
- Barbarian King in parallel where you can afford it.
- Laboratory research, which is now a serious investment.
- Air Defense and splash coverage.
- Walls, continuously, with everything left over.
The general reasoning behind this ordering is set out in upgrade priority.
Mistakes that cost you weeks here
Rushing to Town Hall 10 with low heroes. This is the single most damaging progression mistake in the game, because hero levels do not catch up quickly and every level above you assumes you have them. Get the Queen to a reasonable level before you move, even if the defences lag.
Reading the tables below
The loot table shows what an attacker can take from a Town Hall 9 village: the share of your storages that is available and the cap per attack. That is the number that decides whether you are worth attacking, and it is why spending down before you log off works. The building table shows what you can own at this level and what is new.
How available loot is calculated in general is covered in loot mechanics.
What it unlocks

Frequently asked
What should I upgrade first at Town Hall 9?
The Archer Queen, without hesitation. Her levels drive the Queen walk, which appears in a very large share of successful attacks, and hero upgrades take longer than anything else, so starting her early at Town Hall 9 determines how the rest of the account goes.
How long does Town Hall 9 take to complete?
It depends entirely on how consistently you keep builders, the laboratory and a hero running rather than on how much you play. Players who never leave a builder idle finish a Town Hall in a fraction of the time of players who log in twice a week, regardless of skill.
