Town Hall 7: Upgrade Order, Priorities and Common Mistakes
Town Halls
Updated: 18 September 2026 · By the Goblins Farm team
Town Hall 7 is one of the biggest jumps in the game. Dragons, the Dark Elixir Drill and your first hero all arrive together.
What changes at this level
Three things change at once. Dragons give you a genuinely strong army that needs little skill to use, as covered on the Dragon page. Dark elixir becomes a resource you have to farm. And the Barbarian King arrives, which means the hero upgrade treadmill starts and never stops.
Upgrade order
The framework does not change between Town Halls, only the specifics. Keep the laboratory running, keep a hero upgrading where you have one, and keep every builder busy. Within that:
- Barbarian King, and keep him upgrading from now on essentially forever.
- Army camps and Dragon research, since Dragons will carry you through this level.
- Dark Elixir Drill and the Dark Elixir Storage, placed deep.
- Air Defense, because everyone else just unlocked Dragons too.
- Walls with surplus.
The general reasoning behind this ordering is set out in upgrade priority.
Mistakes that cost you weeks here
Not upgrading the King because you want to attack with him. Hero timers are long and the only way to finish them is to always have one running. The second common mistake is leaving the Dark Elixir Storage near the edge, where it is stripped every night.
Reading the tables below
The loot table shows what an attacker can take from a Town Hall 7 village: the share of your storages that is available and the cap per attack. That is the number that decides whether you are worth attacking, and it is why spending down before you log off works. The building table shows what you can own at this level and what is new.
How available loot is calculated in general is covered in loot mechanics.
What it unlocks
Stats by level
| Resource | Share of storage | Maximum per attack |

Frequently asked
What should I upgrade first at Town Hall 7?
The Barbarian King, then army camps and Dragon research. Town Hall 7 is where hero upgrades begin, and since hero timers are the longest in the game, starting the habit of always having one running here saves months later.
How long does Town Hall 7 take to complete?
It depends entirely on how consistently you keep builders, the laboratory and a hero running rather than on how much you play. Players who never leave a builder idle finish a Town Hall in a fraction of the time of players who log in twice a week, regardless of skill.
