Freeze disables defences inside its radius for a short period. It is the most reactive spell in the game: you do not plan where it goes, you hold it until a specific defence starts shredding your push, and then you drop it there.
What it does
Defences inside the circle stop firing for the duration. Since it is a short, surgical effect, its value comes entirely from which defence you catch and when.
When to drop it
The classic targets are the defences that ramp up or hit an area hard: an Inferno Tower burning through a Golem, a Scattershot clearing your damage line, an Eagle Artillery ranging in on the push.
- Hold it. A Freeze in your hand is an answer to a problem you have not met yet. A Freeze spent early is nothing.
- Catch more than one if you can, but do not delay to try; a well-timed single-defence freeze beats a late double.
- Freeze the defence, not the troops. Aim at the building, since that is what the radius needs to cover.
What it pairs with
Freeze is what makes slow, expensive units viable. P.E.K.K.A, Golem and Electro Titan armies all live or die on whether the single-target burst defence is disabled at the right moment. If your heavy pushes keep dying at the same building every time, that is the building the Freeze is for.

When should I use a Freeze Spell?
Reactively, at the moment a specific defence starts destroying your army, most often an Inferno Tower or a heavy splash defence. Holding a Freeze until that moment is far more valuable than planning where it goes in advance.
Does Freeze work on Clan Castle troops and heroes?
The spell's purpose in practice is disabling defences during the critical seconds of a push. Plan your Clan Castle answer with a lure and poison rather than counting on Freeze to solve defending troops.
