Overgrowth Spell — Clash of Clans
Spells
Updated: 18 September 2026 · By the Goblins Farm team
Overgrowth encases buildings in its radius, taking them out of the fight temporarily. Unlike Freeze, which only stops defences shooting, encased buildings also stop being valid targets, which changes how your army paths.
What it does
Buildings inside the radius are covered and disabled for a period. They neither attack nor can be attacked, so they are effectively removed from the battlefield for the duration.
That second property is the interesting one. Because encased buildings are not valid targets, your troops path past them, which means Overgrowth can be used as a steering tool rather than purely a defensive one.
How it is used
- Disabling a cluster of defences at the moment your army crosses their coverage.
- Steering an army by removing the buildings that would otherwise pull it off course.
- Buying time on a heavy push that needs to survive one dangerous stretch.

Frequently asked
How is Overgrowth different from Freeze?
Freeze stops defences firing but they remain valid targets. Overgrowth encases buildings so they neither fire nor can be attacked, which additionally changes how your troops path, since an encased building is not something they will walk toward.
Can Overgrowth be used to steer troops?
Yes, and that is one of its more interesting uses. Because encased buildings stop being valid targets, covering the buildings that would pull your army off course effectively redirects the push.
