The Clan Castle carries donated troops into your attacks and, on defence, deploys them to hunt attackers across the map. It is the most disruptive single building in the game and the one attackers must plan around first.
What it does
On offence it carries donated troops, spells and siege machines into your attack. On defence it deploys its garrison when an attacker enters its radius, and those troops chase aggressively rather than defending a position.

Placement and habits
- Place it centrally, so its radius covers every likely approach and cannot be triggered from safety.
- Keep it filled. An empty Castle on defence is a free star, and this is the most commonly forgotten thing in the entire game.
- Keep separate offensive and defensive requests, since the troops you want attacking are not the ones you want defending.

Where should I put my Clan Castle?
Centrally, so its trigger radius covers the approaches an attacker would take and cannot be lured safely from the edge. A Clan Castle in a corner effectively lures itself.
Why is my Clan Castle empty?
Because it must be refilled by clan donation after every use, and it is not automatic. An empty Clan Castle on defence gives attackers a free run, which makes checking it one of the highest-value habits when you log in.
