The Ricochet Cannon unlocks at Town Hall 16 and hits ground only, for 360 damage per second at 9 tiles. The name describes the mechanic: its fire continues past the first target, which is why its effective output against a group is higher than the listed figure suggests.
What the numbers say
360 damage per second, 9 tiles, ground only, 4 levels. That is heavy damage at moderate range, with the usual ground-only caveat: it contributes nothing at all against an air attack.
Because the shot ricochets, its value rises with how tightly the attacking army is packed, in the same way the Bowler punishes buildings that are lined up. An army deployed in a stack takes considerably more from it than the same army spread out.
Placing it
Where ground armies funnel. Its damage is high enough to matter in the core, and its bounce rewards positions where attacking troops are forced to bunch, such as a compartment entrance or the gap a Jump Spell would open.
Pair it with anti-air coverage rather than other ground-only defences, since a cluster of ground-only buildings is an invitation to fly over them.
