Super Troops: Temporary Upgrades

Super Troops are enhanced versions of standard troops, activated for a limited period by spending dark elixir. While active, the boosted troop replaces its normal counterpart entirely. They are genuinely powerful, genuinely expensive, and worth activating with a plan rather than on impulse.
How boosting works
You pick a troop that meets the level requirement, pay dark elixir, and for a fixed period that troop is replaced in your army menu by its Super version. You cannot train both the normal and the Super version at the same time, which is the detail that catches people out: boosting a troop your farming army depends on changes that army's cost and housing for the whole boost period.
Only a small number can be active simultaneously, so activation is a choice between options rather than a shopping spree.
Is it worth the dark elixir?
Dark elixir is the scarcest resource in the game and its main competing use is hero upgrades, which are the single biggest contributor to attacking power. So the honest framing is: a Super Troop boost costs you hero progress.
That makes it worth it in a narrow set of cases:
- You have a specific war coming and the Super version solves a problem your normal army cannot.
- The boost dramatically improves your farming rate, such that it pays for itself in dark elixir over the boost period. Do the arithmetic rather than assuming.
- You got a Super Potion from an event or the shop, in which case it costs nothing and you should absolutely use it.

Planning a boost
Because the duration is fixed and the cost is high, the boost should be planned around what you will do with it:
- Decide the job first.War attacks, dark elixir farming, or a push. Different jobs favour different Super Troops.
- Check your army still works.The Super version usually has different housing space, so your existing army composition may not fit any more. Rebuild it before you activate, not after.
- Activate at the start of the window.Boosting on the last day of a war wastes most of the duration.
- Use it every day it is active.An unused boost is dark elixir set on fire.

Are Super Troops worth the dark elixir?
Only with a specific plan. Dark elixir competes directly with hero upgrades, which contribute more to attacking power over time, so a boost is worth it when it solves a concrete problem for an upcoming war or clearly pays for itself in improved farming. Free Super Potions are always worth using.
Can I use the normal troop while its Super version is active?
No. The Super version replaces the standard troop in your army menu for the entire boost duration, and since housing space usually differs, your existing army composition may no longer fit. Rebuild the army before activating.
How many Super Troops can I have active at once?
Only a small number, so activation is a genuine choice between options rather than something you do to everything at once. Pick based on what you actually intend to attack during the boost window.
