Hero Equipment: Customising Your Heroes
Mechanics
Updated: 18 September 2026 · By the Goblins Farm team
Hero Equipment turned heroes from fixed units into configurable ones. Each hero carries a small number of equipment pieces, each piece changes their abilities and passive strengths, and the combination you choose can make the same hero a tank, a damage dealer or a support unit.
Slots and swapping
Each hero has a small number of equipment slots, and the pieces you fit determine both the hero's ability and a set of passive bonuses. Swapping is free and can be done between attacks, which means equipment is a per-attack decision, not a permanent commitment.
This is the part people underuse. Most players find one loadout and never touch it again. The players who get the most out of equipment change it for the job: one setup for farming, another for war, another for defence.
Ores and upgrade strategy
Equipment is upgraded with ores, which are earned through play rather than farmed like gold, and the rarer ores are genuinely scarce. That scarcity creates the central decision: spread ores thinly across many pieces, or concentrate them on a few.
Concentrating is almost always correct. A small number of high-level pieces on the heroes you actually attack with beats a broad shelf of mediocre equipment, because you can only equip a few pieces at a time anyway. Pick the loadout you use most, level it properly, and ignore the rest until it is done.
- Prioritise the hero you use every attack. Equipment on a hero you rarely deploy is wasted.
- Prioritise offence over defence pieces unless you are actively pushing trophies, because attacks are where your resources come from.
- Do not chase every new release. New equipment is added regularly; ores are not.
Equipment on defence
Defending heroes use their equipment too, which means the loadout you left on before logging off is the loadout defending your base. If you have configured a hero purely for offensive burst and then log out, you are defending with that configuration.
Whether that matters depends on what your base is for. A trophy pusher should think about it; a farmer who keeps empty storages and welcomes shields largely should not. But it is worth knowing that the choice exists, because it is invisible in the interface and surprises people when they finally notice it.
Frequently asked
Can I change Hero Equipment between attacks?
Yes, freely and at no cost. Equipment is a per-attack decision, so it is worth keeping a farming loadout and a war loadout and switching between them rather than settling on one configuration permanently.
Should I spread ores across all my equipment?
No. Concentrate them on the few pieces you actually equip on the heroes you actually attack with. You can only use a small number of pieces at a time, so a handful of well-levelled pieces beats a large collection of weak ones.
Does Hero Equipment affect defending heroes?
Yes. Whatever loadout is equipped when you log off is what your defending heroes use, which matters if you are pushing trophies and matters much less if you are farming with empty storages.
