The Best TH11 Attack Strategy Is the One You Can Repeat

AttackTown Hall 11

Updated: 18 September 2026 · Goblins Farm

Town Hall 11 is where Clash of Clans stops being forgiving. You get a fourth hero, an Eagle Artillery starts appearing across from you, and your army camps hold 260 housing space — not a number anyone picks at random, because it decides which armies are even possible. This is what fits, what it hits for at Town Hall 11 research levels, and which one to learn first.

The number that decides everything: 260

At Town Hall 11 you may place four Army Camps, and the game files give a level 9 Army Camp 65 housing space. Four of them is 260 space, and that is the entire budget you take into a battle. Your Clan Castle at level 7 adds 35 more plus one siege machine slot, which at Town Hall 11 you can only receive from a clanmate, because the Workshop does not unlock until Town Hall 12.

This matters more than it sounds. Every popular Town Hall 11 army is popular precisely because it divides into 260 without waste. An army that leaves 14 space empty is an army that is 5% smaller than it needed to be, every single attack, forever.

The one cost that is real. Troops have no training cost and no training time in the current game files — those columns do not exist. What an attack actually spends is the search fee, which is 1,000 gold at Town Hall 11, plus your time. Army composition is free to change. Use that.

What Town Hall 11 actually unlocks

Five things arrive: the Grand Warden, the Eagle Artillery, the Electro Dragon, the Ice Golem and the Invisibility Spell.

The Grand Warden is the one that changes how you attack. He is funded entirely by elixir — no dark elixir at any level — which means he can be upgrading while your dark elixir goes to the Barbarian King and Archer Queen. His aura is a permanent buff to everything near him and his Eternal Tome ability is several seconds of immunity for your whole push. Town Hall 11 armies are built around the fact that he exists.

The Eagle Artillery is the reason your old Town Hall 10 army stops working. It activates once a certain amount of housing space has been deployed and then fires on your densest group, which punishes exactly the habit most players bring up from Town Hall 10: dropping everything at once in one place.

Four armies that fit 260 exactly

Each of these uses every point of housing space. Levels quoted are the maximum a Town Hall 11 laboratory (level 9) allows, taken from the game files.

Which one to learn first, and why it is not the best one

Learn Zap Dragons first. Not because it is the strongest — Lavaloon and Queen Charge both have higher ceilings — but because at Town Hall 11 your problem is not ceiling, it is variance.

A Town Hall 11 laboratory is level 9. Of the troops you are likely to use, the Dragon sits at 6 of 13 levels, the Hog Rider at 7 of 15, the Electro Dragon at 2 of 9. You are attacking with roughly half-levelled troops against bases whose defences are, relative to their own Town Hall, much closer to maxed. Armies that need precision will fail on the margin; armies that need only a decent funnel will not.

The practical test: if your last ten war attacks include more than two attacks under 50%, you are using an army above your execution level. Drop back to Dragons, bank the stars, and practise the Queen Charge in friendly challenges where failing costs nothing.

The mistake that costs more than army choice

Attacking without spending your Clan Castle slot. Thirty-five housing space of clan troops is 13% more army than you own, delivered free, and at Town Hall 11 it can be a level-appropriate Electro Dragon or a pair of Baby Dragons that clean a whole side of the base. Players who request on cooldown attack with 295 space. Players who forget attack with 260 and then wonder why the same army works for everyone else.

The second mistake is upgrading the Town Hall before the laboratory catches up. Town Hall 12 does not make your Dragons stronger — it unlocks the research that does, and that research is weeks of laboratory time you have not started. There is more on that in why your account stalls.

Frequently asked

What is the best attack strategy at TH11?

For consistent two and three stars with modest research, 13 Dragons with Lightning Spells on an Air Defence. For higher ceilings once your execution is reliable, Lavaloon or a Queen Charge into Hog Riders. All three fit Town Hall 11's 260 housing space exactly.

How much army space do you get at TH11?

260. Town Hall 11 allows four Army Camps and a level 9 Army Camp holds 65 housing space in the game files. A level 7 Clan Castle adds 35 more plus one siege machine slot.

Is Lavaloon good at TH11?

It has the highest ceiling of any Town Hall 11 army and the lowest floor. Two Lava Hounds and 36 Balloons will three-star bases that Dragons cannot touch, but an unlucky hound split turns the same attack into 40%. Learn it second, not first.
