Army Camp Space at Every Town Hall, and the Three Town Halls That Give You None
Updated: 18 September 2026 · Goblins Farm
Housing space is the only hard limit on what you can bring to an attack, and it is the number players are vaguest about. Here is the full table from the game files — how much each Army Camp holds, how many you may place, what that totals at every Town Hall, and the three upgrades that give you no extra army whatsoever.
The table
Total army camp housing space at every Town Hall, with the Clan Castle capacity beside it:
- TH1 — 20 camp space
- TH2 — 30
- TH3 — 70, Clan Castle 10
- TH4 — 80, castle 15
- TH5 — 135, castle 15
- TH6 — 150, castle 20
- TH7 — 200, castle 20
- TH8 — 200, castle 25
- TH9 — 220, castle 30
- TH10 — 240, castle 35 + 1 siege
- TH11 — 260, castle 35 + 1 siege
- TH12 — 280, castle 40 + 1 siege
- TH13 — 300, castle 45 + 1 siege
- TH14 — 300, castle 45 + 1 siege
- TH15 — 320, castle 50 + 1 siege
- TH16 — 320, castle 50 + 2 sieges
- TH17 — 340, castle 55 + 2 sieges
- TH18 — 352, castle 55 + 2 sieges
From Town Hall 7 onwards you may place four Army Camps and the number never rises again — everything after that is camp levels, not camp count.
The three Town Halls that give you no extra army
Town Hall 8, Town Hall 14 and Town Hall 16 add zero housing space. Town Hall 7 and 8 both cap the Army Camp at level 6 (50 space each). Town Hall 13 and 14 both cap it at level 11 (75). Town Hall 15 and 16 both cap it at level 12 (80).
This is worth knowing before you upgrade, because army size is the most visible thing a Town Hall gives you and at those three levels it gives nothing. What you get instead at Town Hall 14 is the Pet House and at Town Hall 16 new defences — real, but not the thing you will notice in a battle.
The practical read. If you are deciding when to move up, Town Hall 12, 13, 15 and 17 hand you a bigger army the moment the camps finish. Town Hall 8, 14 and 16 hand you research and buildings, so there is less cost to arriving late and more cost to arriving unprepared.
Camp level is not free, and at the top it is expensive
The per-camp figures from the files: level 1 holds 20 housing space, level 6 holds 50, level 9 holds 65, level 12 holds 80 and level 14 holds 88.
The prices diverge sharply at the end. A level 12 Army Camp costs 10,000,000 elixir and 6 days for 5 extra space. A level 14 costs 26,000,000 elixir and 15 days for 3. Four of those is 104 million elixir and 60 builder-days for 12 housing space — less than one Dragon.
That is not a reason to skip them; a maxed account maxes everything. It is a reason to put them last in the elixir queue at Town Hall 18, behind laboratory research that actually changes an attack.
Why this number decides your army, not your troop choice
Housing space is why the same armies keep appearing at each Town Hall. Twelve Dragon Riders is 300 space, which is exactly a Town Hall 13 camp. Fourteen Dragons is 280, exactly Town Hall 12. Eight Electro Dragons plus four Balloons is 260, exactly Town Hall 11.
Those are not coincidences — they are the reason the community settled on those compositions. An army that leaves space unused is a smaller army for no benefit, and at 20 to 30 housing space per heavy troop, leaving 15 space empty is leaving most of a unit at home.
The second thing the table shows is how much the Clan Castle is worth: at Town Hall 11 it is 13% more army than you own, and at Town Hall 9 it is 14%. Attacking without requesting is the cheapest mistake to fix in the game.
How we counted
Army Camp and Clan Castle housing space are read directly from Clash of Clans' game files — the same files the Army Camp wiki page and every stat table on this site are built from. Totals are the per-camp capacity at the highest level that Town Hall allows, multiplied by the number of camps that Town Hall permits.
Not included: hero slots, which sit outside housing space, and pets, which ride with heroes rather than taking camp space. Siege machines occupy the Clan Castle's separate siege slot, not troop space.
Frequently asked
How much army camp space do you get at each Town Hall?
20 at TH1, 200 at TH7 and TH8, 220 at TH9, 240 at TH10, 260 at TH11, 280 at TH12, 300 at TH13 and TH14, 320 at TH15 and TH16, 340 at TH17 and 352 at TH18. From Town Hall 7 onwards you may place four Army Camps and the count never increases again.
Which Town Halls give no extra army space?
Town Hall 8, 14 and 16. Each shares its maximum Army Camp level with the Town Hall below it, so army size does not change — what those levels give you is research, the Pet House and new defences instead.
How much does the Clan Castle add?
35 troop space at Town Hall 10 and 11, 40 at 12, 45 at 13 and 14, 50 at 15 and 16 and 55 at 17 and 18, plus a siege machine slot from Town Hall 10 and a second from Town Hall 16. At Town Hall 11 that is 13% more army than your own camps hold.
