How to Find a Good Clan in Clash of Clans
Updated: 18 September 2026 · By the Goblins Farm team
A good clan gives you troops you have not unlocked, war experience, and people who answer questions. A dead clan gives you a badge. The difference is enormous and it costs nothing to switch.
New players treat leaving a clan as rude. It is not. Clans expect turnover, and staying in a dead clan out of politeness costs you months of donations.
Step by step
- Check whether donations actually happen
Open the clan chat. If requests sit unfilled for hours, the clan is dead regardless of how many members it has.
- Check whether they war, and whether they finish
The war log shows this. A clan with a long record of wars where members used both attacks is worth far more than one with a good win rate and half the roster inactive.
- Read the description honestly
Trophy requirements, war expectations, donation ratios. If the requirements do not fit you today, that is fine, it just means look elsewhere for now.
- Ask one question in chat before deciding
Anything. How they handle war target calling, or what they want in a defensive Clan Castle. A clan that answers is a clan that will help you later.
- Donate before you ask
The fastest way to be treated well in a new clan is to fill other people's requests immediately. Most clans track this.
- Leave without drama if it is not working
No explanation needed. Clans expect it.
Warning signs
- Unfilled requests in chat. The clearest signal there is.
- Wars started with half the roster inactive. You will lose every war and it will not be your fault.
- Leadership that is never online. Nothing gets organised, including war rosters.
- Rules about trophies but none about war attacks. Usually a sign of a clan that cares about appearance rather than participation.
Frequently asked
How do I know if a clan is good?
Open the chat and see whether donation requests are actually being filled, then check the war log for whether members use both attacks. An active donating clan with a mediocre win rate is worth far more to you than a dormant clan with a good one.
Is it rude to leave a clan?
No. Clans expect turnover and most will not think twice about it. Staying in an inactive clan out of politeness costs you months of free donations, which is the largest free upgrade available to your account.
